Friday Drop-In Pickleball @ Manzano Mesa.
Friday Drop-In Pickleball @ Manzano Mesa.
Please at least be versed in the basic rules, if you are a beginner that has never played. Meet at the champion court, by the bathrooms. Even though it's drop in when you can, the earlier our members can get there, the better we have a chance of claiming more courts that are close to each other. **A Different Format - Please Read:** What does "drop-in" mean? When you RSVP to the event, you ain't gotta be there right at the start. Stop by whenever and leave when you're ready. I will be there for at least the minimum time posted. Do RSVP so I have an idea of how many to expect, and it's good for the meetup group to track participation. **Play Format:** I need yall's help to keep play fair and fluid for all members. If there are members waiting to be rotated in, the 2 players that just lost in the current game rotate out to wait in line. The first 2 players waiting in line then rotate in, and the players that just won the game stay on court but split up. Holler at me if you need clarification. **What to Expect:** Casual pickleball for all levels; total beginners welcome. This venue is outdoors; if the weather turns, the event may be canceled. Please watch the event page and check your email for updates. We use public courts, and it’s not unusual to wait for court space to become available. **What to Bring:** * Paddle * Balls * Weather appropriate clothing * Hydration * Non-marking court shoes **Important:** If for any reason you are unable to attend, please update your RSVP. Thanks!

Gung Fu Tea Experience 🍵
Gung Fu Tea Experience 🍵
Join us for Tea, in the style of a Chinese gung fu tea gathering Friday's at 5pm. Gongfu tea or kung fu tea (Chinese: 工夫茶 or 功夫茶; both gōngfū chá), literally "making tea with skill", is a traditional Chinese tea preparation method sometimes called a "tea ceremony". It is probably based on the tea preparation approaches originating in Fujian and the Chaoshan area of eastern Guangdong.

Waking the Heart
Waking the Heart
The pathway towards awakening wends its way through the depths of our hearts. But our glimpses of the heart are fleeting. Join us to explore how to wake the heart and keep it open, through the powerful avenues of poetry, music, imagery, and text. *"If one learns to listen to the heart, it will tell one things so clearly—what must be done, what must not be done, the real nature of people, places, and things. Only it speaks so quietly, so subtly, and immediately a flood of reactions, explanations, excuses, theories have swamped it, and we do not even recognise it speak. Only listening carefully to what it wants to say, and remaining still until it has spoken, one cannot really do the wrong thing."* \~ Rodney Collin, from *The Theory of Conscious Harmony,* Chapter on *Heart* ***Jennie Hansen*** *is a professional musician and writer who has studied philosophy for 22 years and has been a Director of the Los Angeles Center of the Academy.* ***Banner Image:*** *Mary Magdalene* by He Qi (c.2012)

Bring: At least 2 liters of water, sack lunch, layers, poles if you use them, an extra pair of shoes and plastic bag in case it's muddy. A traction device such as microspikes will be helpful for any lingering snow patches on uppermost portion. Dogs: Please leash up at snack and lunch breaks. Meet at Tin Can Alley, near Whataburger side of the parking lot, to carpool to trailhead. AWD is helpful for the Tunnel Springs trailhead. Passenger cars can park lower and walk an extra .25 mile. But hopefully we can carpool. Watch comments for any inclement weather cancellations or modifications. **High winds means this event will be cancelled or postponed.** Meeting at trailhead? Please comment.

Cardio Hike: Piedra Lisa South (4 miles) (Headlamp)
Cardio Hike: Piedra Lisa South (4 miles) (Headlamp)
Join me on this hike up Piedra Lisa South to the saddle about 2 miles in to a dedicated turnaround point. At approximately 7:10pm we still starting heading back down and gather anyone maintaining a slower pace on the way. Please see the bottom of the description for a link to a roughly equivalent AllTrails hike. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight since we will be hiking somewhat in the dark on the way down. Piedra Lisa trailhead is off Forest Service Rd 333. Instead of making a right to head towards La Luz trailhead, you go straight and follow the dirt road until the trailhead parking lot on the left. **Distance**: 4 miles **Elevation gain**: 1,200 feet ⚠ **Parking Fee**: None Cardio hikes are designed for all paces. The goal is to have the opportunity to improve fitness and prepare for longer day hikes. You will likely find hikers with a similar pace, but may also find yourself hiking alone, particularly if you have not been hiking recently. Being familiar with the trail in advance is strongly encouraged. Please contact me directly or post in the comments if you have questions.
